When Pattee Colvin, President, Making it Happen, Inc. was living on the streets over 16 years ago, she never would have dreamed that she would have the life that she does today.
After receiving a hot meal from a ministry in Sunland while she was still homeless, the compassion of the volunteers who worked there touched her so deeply that she began volunteering for the same hot meal program. By 2007, Pattee was holding a leadership position and running the entire program.
In 2013, Pattee founded Making It Happen Inc., an organization designed to meet the needs of those in our community who are hungry, homeless, unemployed, or under-employed by providing food, clothing, and access to services that provide a pathway to more successful lives. Using her own life story, Pattee made it the organization’s mission to help lift people up who were in need.
In 2019, Pattee received the Pioneer Woman of the Year Award from the City of Los Angeles honoring her lasting impact on the community. Most recently, she was honored as the 2021 Woman of the Year by Congressman Adam Schiff.
Pattee believes that building economically strong, socially unified, and inclusive communities can change the world, and she has shown us the difference this has made for Council District 7.
